Utilisation of liquid wastes for bioenergy purposes
The Danish company PurFil has developed a new technology (PURROT®) for separating dry matter from liquid wastes. Examples of such wastes are slurry from livestock housing units or digested biomass from biogas plants. By using the PURROT® technology for treatment of liquid wastes utilisation of the dry matter for bioenergy purposes is facilitated. At the same time a more effective utilisation of the nutrients is achieved thereby reducing nutrient loss to the environment. The PURROT® technology is presently under verification. One of the purposes is to verify how much of the organic matter that can be separated from the liquid waste.

Upgrading of digested biomass for new products and bioenergy
The purpose of New Substrate Technology Concept is to improve the utilization of digested biomass from a biogas plant.
When digested biomass is treated in New Substrate Technology Concept liquid waste is converted to new bioproducts and
fertilizers. One of the new bioproducts is a high quality substrate for mushroom production that can substitute other
materials normally used as substrate. Thus, New Substrate Technology Concept potentially leads to improved resource
efficiency. At the same time the owner of the biogas plant benefits from increased income from sale of new products. One
of the focus points in the verification is to document the energy consumption of the key components of the New Substrate
Technology Concept. The verification is undertaken for the Danish company J.S. Trading.
